DIPLOMA OF TRANSPERSONAL COUNSELLING
The Diploma of Transpersonal Counselling allows individuals to acquire professional and personal life skills, within a supportive and creative environment. This course is aimed at the cultivation of the person and community, and fosters the creative development of ideas and human potential. Many people undertake these courses for professional development and for personal life transition.
Students learn a wide range of skills including depth psychological principles drawn from Jung, Freud, Assagioli etc. This is contrasted within the course material with strategies employed from CBT and mindfulness based therapies. Although IKON courses have a deep foundation in academic theory, there is a strong emphasis placed upon the key themes of authenticity, self realization, power and meaning. At the same time as deepening their knowledge and skills, students will develop an acute understanding of themselves and their relationship to others.
DIPLOMA OF ART THERAPY
The Diploma in Art Therapy builds on the philosophy of transpersonal counselling while incorporating art into the therapeutic setting. Art Therapy is one of the most popular new innovative therapies being used today. It utilises a number of creative and expressive modalities ranging from painting, drawing, writing, clay, poetry, drama, dance, music, and sand play. This work utilises depth psychology principles of symbol and image but more so fundamentally activates the healing potential of individuals through creativity and imagination. It has a broad range of vocational applications ranging from working with children, aged care, brain injury and many client populations in between.
At the same time as deepening your knowledge and skills, you will develop an acute understanding of yourself and expand your relationships with others. IKON institute is the only accredited art therapy provided in SA and the biggest national provider.
ACCREDITATION
IKON SA is a fully accredited training facility. IKON courses are recognized nationally through the ACA (Australian Counselling Association), the Society for Natural Therapists and Researchers (SNTR) and the International Institute for Complimentary Therapists. Graduates from IKON courses are eligible for membership in these organizations and have access to professional indemnity insurance.
